First of all I would like to congratulate Dark Emperor for making this move, but from this we can clearly see how dynamically strategic a full army comprised of mace men, knights, unmounted knights can be. NEVER attack with an army solely comprised of umounted knights or pikemen. Even though these slow moving unit factions are slow, they provide a great defensive barrier for spearmen, archers, or crossbowmen.
Here is a list of advantages / disadvantages of slow moving factions (pikemen and unmounted knights)
PIKEMEN / UNMOUNTED KNIGHTS:
Advantage:
- Resilient to a percival blast, even though percival might blow these troops straight to the ground, they get up with only moderate damage.
- Make a great barrier in front of archers, and crossbowmen
- Able to kill creepers
- Making pikemen doesn't require honor
- Slow moving, and enemies faster troops can get past them with ease
- Cost a lot to produce
